This is a weekly OOTW look book inspired by the early 2000s NOW That’s What I Call Music infomercials. The outfits aren’t inspired by the infomercial but the video itself is. The overused animations, old-school graphics and cheesy transitions give me flashbacks to a simpler time. A time when I’d come home from school and watch Jackie Chan Adventures while doing my homework, look up song lyrics to sing along to music videos, daydream about having a credit card to order an infomercial product and browse for the perfect MySpace layout.
What a time to be alive.
I had a lot of fun filming and editing the video. My laptop is out of space so it’s not premium quality but it was all filmed and edited on my iPhone !!! 7 !!!! (not even the fancy new one with 3 cameras) so give me a little credit lol. The original video edit was an 11 minute vlog-style OOTD but… it just didn’t feel like me? I realized I’m not one of those Youtubers who makes cute OOTD vlogs. I’m just a girl who likes styling clothes and making jokes. Even though I model, I couldn’t take myself seriously when I was filming the outfit b-roll. I wanted to create something that wasn’t cookie cutter and could make people laugh or feel nostalgic while also showing some looks.
Disclaimer: I have a lot of Free People clothes because I’m a stylist there and get a discount. However, they are not paying me to advertise soooo until I get an advertising check I swear I’m not trying to push any Free People lmaoooo. These are all items I have bought for myself. None of these are affiliate links either. (But I should get on that.) Also shout out to all my retail people who only have (slowly but surely) infested their entire closet with clothes from the store they work at!! My closet is a mix between Free People and thrifted.
